Tecta America Corp. to Present Product Focus in Washington, D.C.

CHICAGO, IL., May 3, 2005 -- Mark Gaulin, President of Magco, Inc., the Baltimore, MD operating division of Tecta America Corp., will present a half-hour product focus on TectaGreen green roofs, specifically green roofs with an integrated slope, Thursday, May 5th at 1:00 p.m., during the third annual Greening Rooftops for Sustainable Communities Conference, May 4th – 6th in Washington, DC.

“Green roofs can save millions of dollars in energy consumption, improve air quality and reduce green house gas emissions. We’re committed to making green roofs an important part of our future commercial and residential roofing efforts,” said Gaulin, who was named Senior Vice President of the National Roofing Contractor’s Association in June of this year.

A longtime proponent of green roofs, Gaulin was recently featured in This Old House and eco-structure magazines for the roof on his own home in Maryland, which features a green roof with slope. While Gaulin’s presentation will focus on green roofs with slope, a majority of TectaGreen green roofs are built on flat roofs with tremendous commercial and industrial application potential. Tecta America booth #202 at the Greening Rooftops for Sustainable Communities Show will feature a full-size model which illustrates the TectaGreen green roof with slope.

The TectaGreen™ living rooftop incorporates a specially engineered system of layers to protect roof membranes from extreme temperature fluctuations and ultraviolet radiation.  TectaGreen can double the life span of conventional roofs while providing energy savings by reducing heating and cooling costs. TectaGreen conforms to the rigorous Green Building Rating System standards, qualifies for LEED certification for tax benefits, and improves site utilization by reducing the impervious surface area of a building to increase potential square footage for construction.
