In August, The Zero Company, a Tecta America Company, began a green roof installation atop the Metro Development Center at 444 S. 5th Street in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the first green roof to be installed on a city-owned building.
This will be an extensive green roof, spanning 4,500 sq. ft. and will consist of 28 separate roof gardens separated by gravel pathways throughout the entire 112,000 sq. ft. of roof space. This project is a part of the City of Louisville's "Go Green" Initiative and will help to retain stormwater, reduce the ambient air temperature, and cut down on energy costs.
The project is scheduled to be completed in December.
